Choose a branch please

In the stable branch, the current version is 1.2, the single-machine, single-user edition of Superversion. Many still prefer this version, but as the 2.0 series is slowly but surely leaving Beta phase, 1.2 will soon be obsolete. Please note that 1.x projects can be upgraded to 2.0 while downgrading is not possible.

In the unstable branch, the current version is 2.0 Beta 8. This version supports multi-user and client/server operation. There have been occasional stability problems with earlier betas, but the codebase is maturing fast towards a final release.

When 2.0 is released, it will replace 1.2 as head of the stable branch.

After deciding on the branch, you have the choice of downloading/installing manually or using Java Webstart. Webstart is the convenient way: Usually the application is installed and run with just a handful of clicks. Webstart has its quirks however, and it is possible that it doesn't work properly on your machine. If this happens to you or Webstart doesn't support your platform at all, please go for the manual download.

Supported environments

Superversion should run on all operating systems that JDK 1.4 or later is available for. This specifically includes Windows, Linux (x86) and Solaris (x86/SPARC) which are directly supported by Sun.

Download over Java Webstart

If you don't have it already, install Java Webstart 1.4.x or 1.5 first.

Manual download

All Superversion releases can be found as zip archives on SourceForge.

Exotic platforms

A Superversion port for OpenVMS is maintained independently by Thierry USO. John Bijnens has contributed installation instructions for OS/2.
